Having been a volunteer with the Trauma and Attachment Service, Katie has recently become a Specialist Parenting Practitioner, a role which involves facilitating a peer support group. Her professional background is diverse and extensive, including roles as an Adult Nurse, a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse, and a Project Manager for a peer support initiative. In her capacity as a volunteer, Katie uses her experience to support individuals navigating trauma and attachment challenges. Her previous roles have equipped her with a deep understanding of healthcare and community support, which she applies to her current volunteer work. Additionally, Katie is a mother of four, with first-hand experience in parenting autistic children and those with a history of trauma. This personal experience enhances her empathy and effectiveness in her role, providing her with a nuanced perspective on the complexities of supporting families and individuals facing similar circumstances.
Post-Separation Parenting Support Group for mums following domestic abuse
Domestic abuse can have a damaging impact on victims and their families. The effects can be long term and across all areas of a survivor’s life.
We provide a monthly, confidential support group for mothers who have separated from an abusive partner, where we discuss, support, and signpost in a safe environment. Attendees’ child/ren may or may not have special needs.
