We are absolutely thrilled to share some truly wonderful news.
On Friday 25 July, our Founder and CEO, Ruth Pearse, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Reading in recognition of her exceptional contribution to the fields of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and early life trauma through her work with Parenting Special Children over the past 20 years.
This recognition could not be more richly deserved. Ruth is not only an inspiring and visionary leader, she is also a genuinely kind, wise, and wholehearted human being. Her tireless work, deep empathy, and unwavering belief in the potential of every child and family have transformed thousands of lives.
Ruth’s vision and values are at the heart of everything we do. She brings warmth, clarity, and integrity to every aspect of her work. She hears and understands when others may overlook, gently challenges systems that need to change, and always puts families first.
Despite all she has achieved, Ruth remains one of the most humble and selfless people we know, never seeking recognition, always shining the light on others. That makes this public celebration of her achievements all the more meaningful.
The entire Parenting Special Children team, both past and present, is incredibly proud of her. We’re honoured to work alongside such a dedicated, compassionate, and truly wonderful person.
Please join us in congratulating Dr Ruth Pearse on this well-earned and heartfelt honour.
